Castles, ancient village centres, small heritage, tobacco growing, tales and legends, etc. In the south of Belgium, the Semois Valley has a rich heritage that the National Park is working to preserve and showcase.
Preserving the landscape, cultural and built HERITAGE

Preserving, restoring and showcasing our LANDSCAPES
If there is one heritage feature for which the Semois Valley is famous, that is its landscapes. As well as the more iconic sites, which are known throughout Belgium, there are also magnificent views throughout the region that must be preserved.

Safeguarding and showcasing the
CULTURAL heritage
Tales and legends are an integral part of the identity of the Semois. Dozens of popular stories, linked to specific places and fantastical characters such as the devil, “nutons”, fairies and witches, have been passed down from generation to generation. In addition, an entire heritage linked to ancient skills, such as tobacco growing, must also be preserved.
