One of the National Park's missions is to develop sustainable tourism in the region. One of the key issues, in this context, is mobility. We are working to find better ways of managing tourist flows and to develop efficient soft mobility services, in the heart of our rural region.
Developing softer MOBILITY within the National Park

Improving MOBILITY
and accessibility in the region
The Semois Valley National Park wants to attract new visitors to the region. But we want to manage these flows in the best way possible, by directing people to our gateways and then offering them alternative means of transport to the private car.
We are also seeking to develop the equestrian sector in our region and to showcase the crossings and fords that have been used for centuries to cross the Semois and travel around our region.

Providing the region with land use management TOOLS
The National Park has many users: local residents, tourists, hunters, farmers, etc. To ensure that it remains accessible to all these users, while respecting their individual needs, we are developing mapping and town planning management tools.

Mapping soft mobility ROUTES and developing a usage timetable
In order to share the exceptional natural space of the Semois Valley National Park, even with increasing numbers of visitors, the National Park wants to develop a mapping tool showing the different routes available and a harmonised timetable giving an overview of the areas that are not accessible at certain times of the year, for various reasons (presence of sensitive species, forestry operations, hunting, etc.).
Objectives : identify the various footpaths and develop a mapping tool to reconcile human activities with the protection of biodiversity.
